The Climate Smart Communities Initiative (CSCI) is pleased to open the 2027 funding opportunity for climate resilience projects in the United States.
CSCI provides funding and technical assistance to advance community-based climate resilience in U.S. communities that are highly vulnerable to climate change. CSCI anticipates awarding 16–20 grants in the 2027 cycle. Funding is prioritized for communities with historically disinvested populations at increased risk of climate impacts. The 12-month grant period will begin in July 2027.
By the end of December 2026, a subset of applicants will be invited to submit a full application with a deadline in February 2027.
Instructions
New Users:
Click the green *Register button* in the top right corner to create your account.
Account creation takes less than 2 minutes: just provide your name, email, and choose a password.
You will be prompted to check your email to secure your account and click "Confirm Registration" in the email you receive.
Returning Users:
Click ‘Log In’ in the top right corner to access your existing account with the password you created at set-up.
After your account is set-up:
Click the 'Check Eligibility' button on your dashboard to complete a single question pre-screening quiz.
Upon passing the quiz, your next screen will provide access to the LOI Form.
Provide your responses. Click the 'Save and Continue' button at the bottom of the form to save your draft and return to it later, by clicking 'Continue' on your dashboard when you log back in.
There is a TWO-STEP submission process in this system:
Click the green 'Mark as Complete' button at the bottom of the LOI form,
Then click the green 'Submit' button that appears on the left of your screen to officially submit your LOI.
If you need to edit your LOI after marking it as complete but before the deadline, click the 3 dots in the upper right corner of the screen, then select "Edit" to re-open the LOI form.
